Super easy! The bottles are simply tilted and rolled on to the scales without any fuss. No lifting, nothing special is needed.

You can open both valves if your gas appliances work better that way. However the recommendation is to close one and only use one at a time so that you can manage emptying the gas bottle properly while having your next one ready to use. If you use both open at once then GasOwl helps you pinpoint the best time to order.

The scales are robust stainless steel with an internal metal frame, with some really clever electronics and a long-life battery. Dreamed up, designed, tested, proven, safety-certified, made and supported by Vention Lab in Nelson, New Zealand. The GasOwl system is the original world-first bottled gas measurement system!

GasOwl measures and monitors and can order gas for you, but does not supply gas. You still choose your favourite gas supplier.

The GasScales are robust and designed to last at least 25 years but will likely last longer. The battery will last around 6 years (replaceable by a trained technician) and there’s a 3 year warranty. There are no moving parts.

Yes. The equipment has all the required safety certifications for NZ and Australia and each set is labelled with its registered safety certification number.

Yes. If you want the GasOwl information to show up on your Home Assistant App then choose the Premium plan and use the API tools provided.

No! It just means the gas level is too low to drive your shower, especially if the weather is cold. There may still be around 10% or more of a bottle that can be accessed for cooking and other hot water usage.
To get the best value from your bottles flick the valve over from the low bottle to the full bottle for a shower and then back to the low bottle for the daily cooking and washing until it is completely empty. GasOwl helps you to know when to do that and so you avoid sending gas back.

Yes. The scales may be calibrated for any type of gas in bottles up to 200kg (including bottle weight). Please contact the GasOwl team to enquire about suitability.

If you want to see what is in each bottle, then order one set per pair of bottles.
If you have multiple bottles open at the same time, e.g. you switch between 2+ bottles on the left and 2+ on the right, then one GasOwl set is all you need.

All your sites can show in the one GasOwl account, you don’t have to have multiple accounts unless you want to (e.g. to allow tenants to view). Each site has a monthly subscription.
