Where will the GasOwl system work?

How are the GasScales installed?
The GasOwl set is best installed by a Gasfitter or your gas Supplier. Your gas bottles need to be removed from their fittings, the GasScales installed and the bottles returned to position. The surface beneath the GasScales must be hard and level.
How easy is it to get the bottles on the GasScales?
Super easy! The bottles simply roll on to the GasScales without any fuss. No lifting, nothing special needed.
Do I still have to switch the valves over?
No. Open both tanks. Your gas appliances work better that way. The recommendation to close one and only use one at a time is to try to avoid running out, but that doesn't work well! Nearly every gas user has run-out stories - the shower three-days cold, the guests over to dinner and...
What are the GasScales made from?
Stainless steel, with an internal metal frame, some really clever electronics and a battery. The battery lasts many years. Dreamed up, designed, tested, proven, safety certified, made and supported in New Zealand. The GasOwl system is a world first!
Can GasOwl be used for gases other than LPG?
Yes. They can be calibrated for any type of gas in bottles up to 200kg (including bottle weight). Please contact the GasOwl team to enquire about suitability.
How long will the GasScales last?
They're designed to last at least 25 years but will likely last longer. The battery is expected to last 10 years (replaceable by a Gasfitter) and there’s a 3 year warranty. There are no moving parts.
Is the GasOwl equipment safe around gas?
Yes. The equipment has all the required safety certifications for NZ and Australia and each set is labelled with its registered safety certification number.
What if I sell my house?
Take them with you if you wish, or leave them in place as a selling point. You can sign off as the owner of the GasScales and the new owner can create an account and sign them on.
I'm renting - what should I do to get a GasOwl set?
Ask your Landlord to purchase them so they stay with the house, and you can sign up and pay the monthly fees. Alternatively you could buy them yourself and take them with you if you leave.
Does the OwlHub do anything else useful?
Yes! It talks to other devices, not just the GasScales. There are other wireless devices available that monitor things like stored water levels, water usage, power usage, air quality, disturbance, doors opening when they should be closed, etc. Watch this space - we'll tell you more about new products that deliver live info about your assets and utilities.
